A fine example of 18th-century English violin making, this instrument dates from the mid to late 1700s and is crafted in the Stainer model, typical of the London school.

It shows strong stylistic similarities to the work of the Furber family, particularly David Furber, although precise attribution is difficult due to the shared models and varnishes of the period.
