From my private collection: exceptional bow in fine condition with superb playing characteristics ‒ immediate response, and a rounded, clear, mature sound ‒, made by Philipp Paul NÜRNBERGER (1882‒1946), Franz Albert Jr.'s elder son.
Its stick’s marvellous combination of robustness and agility facilitate effortless handling, tonal brilliance and mighty sound projection ‒ on a par with French bows valued 2-3 times as much!
Experts on 19th/20th c. German bows (Grünke, Köstler, Wohlleber, Schröder, et al.) agree that, in terms of craftsmanship, Philipp's bows of his early period, such as this one, are often superior to those of his father.
